Recreational Therapist jobs in Manchester, NH

Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Position Summary:

    The Recreation Therapist is responsible for assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating assigned clients treatment plans. Specific diagnosis may involve but are not limited: autism, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, emotional disorders, medically frail conditions, neurological impairments, spinal cord injury, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and other conditions that compromise respiratory health. Assigned caseload can be comprised of students enrolled in Crotched Mountain School

    Essential Functions

    • General Business Acumen: Demonstrates the knowledge and understanding of everyday operational functions of Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center.• Wears identification while working.• Records time worked accurately.• Reports to work on time and as scheduled.• Completes work within designated time; keep supervisor informed of any impending delays.• Accurately complete required documentation that meets current organizational and/or department standards.• Represent the organization in a positive and professional manner.• Maintain confidentiality of all data inclusive of inclusive of client, employee and Crotched Mountain operations data.Professionalism: Thinks carefully about the likely effects on others of one’s words, appearance and mode of behavior. Selects the words or actions most likely to have the desired effect on the individual or group by:• Practices good hygiene and presents an appropriate professional appearance.• Treats individuals and their families with respect and dignity, using tactful communication.• Demonstrates understanding how one is perceived by others.• Works to develop and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers by being punctual, maintaining a pleasant work attitude, participate as a team member.• Attends staff meetings as required; reads and reviews all monthly staff meeting minutes.• Attends annual review and departmental training, as necessary.• Maintains client confidentiality at all times.• Complies with organizational policy and procedures and required regulatory statutes.Continuous Learning: Demonstrates eagerness to acquire necessary technical knowledge, skills and judgment to accomplish a result or serve a client’s needs effectively.
