Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. JOB SUMMARY:
Our programming provides services to families who are at-risk for abuse, neglect, truancy, and/or youth justice involvement. Our team strives to preserve the family, reduce out-of-home placements, and aid in reunification. Parent Mentors, Therapists, Youth Support Specialists, and Substance Abuse Counselors provide collaborated services to families to address such issues including, but not limited to: mental health, alcohol/other drug abuse, parenting, and family conflict.
The Therapist provides outpatient individual and/or family clinical therapy to referred youth and their families to stabilize and strengthen the family unit.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE THERAPIST:
LOCATION: Offices are located in Kenosha. Position will work a combination of on-site at the office and/or out in the community visiting with clients. Some flexibility for hybrid/remote when client sessions are not scheduled. Must be able to meet in-person with clients located in Kenosha County, Wisconsin.
