Recreational Therapist jobs in Kearney, NE

Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
    - Work positively as a team member within an outpatient facility, using an Open Access model to provide same-day services.  (We're really excited about this! If you have questions about this model, we'd love to talk to you about how it works!)

    - Perform initial, comprehensive assessments to persons interested in receiving services

    - Develop a biopsychosocial, individualized treatment plan for each consumer - and constantly update the plan with that person's needs, strengths, and issues as they arise

    - Maintain a caseload of individuals working on both mental health and substance use concerns simultaneously

    - Lead one to two group therapy sessions each week

    - Utilize experience and education to provide expert therapeutic services - Make a huge difference in the lives of people who need support to turn their lives around

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
    - A Master's degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field


    - At least 21 years of age

    - Experience working with persons with co-occurring issues

    - LMHP/LIMHP and LADC (provisional licenses are acceptable!)
