Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. We are looking for experienced Therapeutic Recreation Specialists who want to provide truly patient centered care in the Denver, CO area - with PRN positions that accept patients for the duration of their stay available. Our interdisciplinary teams create integrated treatment plans that are practiced in patients homes and communities. Our therapists are creative in their approach and incorporate a variety of activities to ignite interest while addressing functional goals. This evidence-based approach results in durable outcomes.

PAY: $40-$50 an hour based on education and experience
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:
Evaluation, treatment and education of neuro-rehab patients including planning, organizing and coordination of recreation activities, functional leisure skills, and leisure education. Assess capabilities/interests/barriers. Monitor progress and recommend changes/modifications to program as required. Perform home assessments and assist the patients with transition to home and community.
Qualifications:
Completion of bachelors in therapeutic recreation and CTRS designation is required. Experience in the treatment of neurologically related disorders is strongly preferred. Excellent planning, organization, writing and time management skills are required. Ability to communicate with families, professionals, and co-workers is a must.
