Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Job Description:

    Mental Health Therapist for a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility for individuals ages 5-21.

    Team members will help develop and implement treatment plans, have individuals sessions with assigned patients, lead weekly group sessions with resident patients, and maintain documentation in accordance with standards.

    Unlicensed therapists are encouraged to apply. Supervision for LPC-A seeking LPC provided at no cost. Must be license eligible and must take licensure exam within 6 months of hire date. For those professionals seeking licensure in a different track (i.e. - LMFT or LISW-CP) assistance will be negotiated for the cost of supervision, if not provided on-site.

    Working Conditions:

    Working environment is in Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF).
