Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. SUMMARY
This position will be responsible for operating a 24-passenger bus to transport program participants, particularly senior citizens, or youth camps (summer and spring break), for various recreational activities.
The position requires applicant to be available to work a flexible work schedule which may include regular evenings and weekend hours.
**This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.**

Conducts the following duties, where a momentary lapse of attention can have a disastrous consequence to the employee or the public:
Responsible for making split-second decisions to implement the emergency action plan as it relates to emergencies while on-route in the City of Angleton recreational bus and on location of destination site.

Education and Experience
Minimum of 1 year parks and recreation experience or experience related to transportation and working with the senior population. Experience with ADA lifts preferred.
