Recreational Therapist plans and directs medically approved therapeutic recreational programs for patients. Organizes activities according to patients' capabilities, needs, and interests. Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. Requires a license/certification to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. Requires to practice from the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation Specialists. Recreational Therapist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Recreational Gymnastics Coach

  • Metroplex Gymnastics in Allen, TX is looking for recreational gymnastics coaches to join our team. We are located on 205 E. Bethany Dr.. Our ideal candidate is attentive, ambitious, and reliable.

    The Recreational Gymnastics Coach will teach their students how to safely execute beginner, intermediate and/or advanced gymnastics skills. The coach will report to the gym manager and perform the following responsibilities:

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Lead and supervise classes with boys and girls of different age groups and talents:
      *Teach skills and abilities at each apparatus, following the core concepts for each level Metroplex Gymnastics has laid out *Staff is required to actively help with warm up of each class whether that be leading the warmup, taking roll, correcting form, or helping get late kids in during warm up *Ensure controlled class management: concentrate on all gymnasts (don’t pick favorites), don’t tolerate disrespectful behavior, practice positive reinforcement. *Assess the skills of each gymnast quarterly to determine pre-team readiness, report assessment to pre-team director
    • Set up a safe gym environment:
      *adhere to safe practices for all equipment *ensure correct technique is used while spotting *review gym and facility safety with new gymnasts *adapt equipment for age, ability, and size of gymnast *be familiar with emergency and evacuation procedures
    • Plan and come prepared:
      *carry a positive attitude *arrive 10 minutes before class or meeting start times *wear appropriate coaching uniform *complete student roll, assessments, and timesheets on time *never sit while coaching or chit chat with other coaches
    • Communicate with gym manager on a weekly basis regarding teaching schedule and

    gymnast performance. Determine who will sub your class if absent.

    • Ensure the gym, including bathrooms, lobby and office space are clean based on assigned cleaning duties


    Additional Requirements:

    • A love of kids (and a lot of patience) and a love of gymnastics!
    • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds; physical activity involved in spotting and moving

    equipment: pulling, lifting, crouching, balancing, and climbing

    • The ability to personably communicate with parents and staff


    Available Hours:

    Recreational gymnastics, tumbling, and ninja classes are 3:45pm to 8:45pm Monday- Thursday and 9am-12pm on Saturday mornings. A flexible schedule can be made to accommodate school schedules as long as consistency can be maintained.

    Available shifts and compensation: Available shifts all days except Sundays and Fridays. Compensation is $12.00 - $15.00/hour.
