Being a Recreational Therapist conducts programs including symptom management, basic conversation skills, community re-entry, sports, gardening, dramatics, music, social activities, and arts and crafts. Prepares reports for patients' physicians describing individual patient symptoms and reactions to therapeutic programs. Additionally, Recreational Therapist conducts activity therapy assessment of a patient's strengths and needs, and recommends therapeutic activity. Documents progress on each patient. POSITION FUNCTION: |
The Therapist provides therapeutic behavioral health services for individuals and their families/support system with forensic, mental health and co-occurring mental health and substance abuse challenges. The Therapist is responsible for the delivery of individual, group and family therapy, and collaborates with other members of the treatment (recovery) team to help develop and implement comprehensive wellness and recovery (treatment) plans.

Education:
Required: Master’s degree in Behavioral Sciences from an accredited college or university.
Preferred: Professional license in Counseling or social work
Experience:
Required: A minimum of one (1) year of paid professional experience in a behavioral health setting.
Preferred: At least three (3) years paid professional experience in a behavioral health setting.
