The Vermont Department Of Corrections is looking for a Recreational Services Coordinator in St. Albans. Rec Services Coordinators are in charge of planning, developing, administering, and coordinating a recreation and leisure skills program involving use of volunteer services at a correctional facility. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior. In this role, you'll develop an offender's individual leisure plan which includes, but is not limited to, group education, individual leisure counseling and participation in specific recreation activities. Rec Services Coordinators also monitor and coache offenders about appropriate use of their leisure time. You'll assist the offender in the implementation of a community recreation and leisure time plan and establishe links to the community for recruiting volunteers to work with offenders in a correctional facility and in the community after release

Duties are performed primarily within an institutional setting. Incumbents must possess considerable interpersonal human relations skills, including patience, understanding, and humor, to deal effectively with the institutions inmate population and other staff members. Emotional and mental stability is required. Significant interaction with inmates is required.
Bachelor's degree in recreation, physical education, or therapeutic recreation.
OR
High School diploma or equivalent AND four (4) years or more of experience at or above a technical level in social services, organizing a community recreation program, education, or a related human services program, including supervisory or coordinating responsibilities.
