Records Manager develops and manages the company records department and information management programs. Responsible for overseeing the storage, backup, maintenance, reproduction, protection, and disposition of all records. Being a Records Manager evaluates and recommends media formats and storage requirements to be used for records/information. Ensures that processes and policies that comply with all regulatory requirements for record retention are followed. Additionally, Records Manager designs and implements systems and processes to protect and secure critical records and information. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Records Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. The Coder/Medical Records Manager is responsible for hands on management of all daily activities of the Medical Records department. The Coder/Medical Records Manager analyzes and codes patient medical records. The Coder/Medical Records Manager routinely meets with direct reports to review their individual results and identifies opportunities to improve performance (productivity, timeliness, and quality). The Coder/Medical Records Manager trains, coaches, and counsels staff members in an effort to develop staff improve teamwork, morale and overall team performance/results.
