The Commercial Lines Rating Specialist role encompasses coordinating with Marketing and Account Management teams to assess and place commercial lines middle market business, adhering to carrier premium volume requirements. Responsibilities include online marketing for both new and renewed business, meeting deadlines, maintaining agency standards, and handling projects independently and creatively. Additionally, the role entails serving as a backup for middle market client calls and requests, managing underwriting and rating information collection, and inputting data into agency management systems or carrier rating platforms. The Specialist will also develop commercial lines insurance proposals, track quotations, and stay updated on changes in underwriting and class of business. Effective communication, administrative proficiency, and a strong client service orientation are essential for success in The Commercial Lines Rating Specialist role, which involves some direct customer interaction.
Job Responsibilities:
- Collect client data from Account Managers using standardized agency quote forms.
- Utilize rating and informational tools to prepare quote comparisons from all applicable insurance companies represented by the Agency.
- Select the best options based on Marketing or Account Manager instructions and provide proposals or comparisons for presentation.
- Identify sales opportunities for additional lines of coverage and present them to clients.
- Manage phone calls and office visitors requesting policy review, changes to existing coverage, or new policies.
- Inform, educate, and make recommendations or changes timely to aid in retention or new business.
- Demonstrate knowledge of rating and underwriting procedures for all carriers, including rating software and carrier websites.
- Utilize download reports for initiative-taking client contact and determine acceptability for client proposals and carrier submissions.
- Maintain an elevated level of customer service during all client interactions to ensure excellent satisfaction.
- Ensure timeliness and compliance with procedures in agency management systems and carrier websites.
- Build and maintain rapport with service and sales teams, clients, and insurance company underwriters.
- Work on individual or corporate projects as assigned by management occasionally.
- Actively support and incorporate company mission and core values into daily activities.
- Maintain a positive and respectful attitude with colleagues and work as a team member to achieve department and company goals.
- Demonstrate positive customer service skills with effective communication, respect, and integrity, while maintaining confidentiality of all relevant information.
Required Qualifications:
- Possesses a supportive and responsive manner with internal and external customers.
- Possesses High School diploma or equivalent.
- Has five years or more of insurance experience.
- Holds a Property and Casualty agent’s license.
- Possesses the capability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and accurately within a complex work environment.
- Possesses basic computer knowledge and skills.
- Will begin working on insurance designation within 1 year of beginning employment.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong analytical skills to assess client needs and compare insurance options effectively.
- Proficiency in using rating software and familiarity with carrier website to gather input underwriting data appropriately.
- Teamwork and collaboration skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues to contribute to department goals.
- Agency Management System (EPIC) or any related programs
- High energy level and ability to manage stress-related situations daily.
