The Sales Assistant will perform a combination of cash handling/ register sales, food preparation, stocking and deep cleaning of all areas of the General Store to include the kitchen.
The Mercantile Supervisor performs supervisory duties at the General Store as described below.
Sales Assistant
Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.Operation of POS/cash registers and resultant adherence to cash handling policies and procedures.Maintenance of merchandise by sweeping, dusting, cleaning, organizing, rotating and restocking daily.Preparation, packaging, serving and selling of General Store “to go” food items. Tasks associated with this process may include but are not limited to: Handling of food products including raw meats.Operating commercial fryers, display warmers, commercial slicers and stove top. Handling of knives and associated kitchen wares and wraps.“Temping”, logging and discerning data associated with food preparation and preservation.Monitor prepared food so that it is safe, well presented and of high quality.Deep cleans General Store kitchen. Cleaning of filters and machines on a daily basis.Responsible for filtering of deep fryer oils, wiping down all hoods and related equipment, maintaining a sanitary kitchen at all times.Cleaning and proper care of all General Store equipment and facilities. Including but not limited to fixtures, bathrooms, kitchen, floors, fuel pump islands and exterior. Collection and transportation of garbage and old cooking oil to outside dumpsters and bins. Communicate General Store and Casino product knowledge and descriptions to guests as directed by management.Compliance with all laws and regulations governing the sale of alcohol, tobacco, gasoline and other products as instructed.Comply with established written policies and procedures.Handle guest complaints or transgressions in a professional, courteous manner that is consistent with policies and procedures.Demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability necessary to work in high volume environment.Follows all safety and emergency procedures and is aware of accident prevention policies.
Mercantile Supervisor
• Ensure that each guest receives outstanding service by creating a friendly environment and following Jackson Rancheria Guest Service Guidelines.• Supervises the General Store staff and assists department management with monitoring and managing workplace conflict and providing leadership that enables the team to work productively together.• Trains staff to perform all job functions associated with their position and provides coaching to continually improve the guests experience and sales.• Interacting with guests, co-workers, vendors and JR employees in a professional, friendly and ethical manner.• Comply with established written policies and procedures.• Maintain a positive and professional attitude as well as a professional appearance at all times.• Handle guest complaints or transgressions in a professional, courteous manner that is consistent with Company policies and procedures.• Execution of promotional activities as directed by management.• Operation of POS/cash registers, associated sales and verification machines, and resultant cash handling.• Maintenance of product displays and merchandise by sweeping, dusting, cleaning, organizing, rotating and restocking daily so that products are fresh, safe and appealing.• Perform inventory counts to assist in ordering and reporting processes.• Compliance with all laws and regulations governing the sale of alcohol, cigarettes, and gasoline.• Thoroughly understands and adheres to proper credit and cash-handling policies and procedures.• Reports any unusual occurrences or requests to Mgmt.• Preparation, packaging, serving and selling of “hot to go” and cold food items. Tasks associated with this process may include but are not limited to:o Handling of food products including raw meats.o Operating commercial fryers, slicers, display warmers, stove tops and ovens.o Handling of knives and associated kitchen wares and wraps.o “Temping”, logging and discerning data associated with food preparation and preservation.o Monitor prepared food so that it is safe, well presented and of high quality.• Providing service for guests at the gas pumps. Such service will include but is not limited to pumping gas, handling sales transactions, assisting “car wash” customers. Duties at the “Gas islands” might include sweeping, cleaning pumps, emptying garbage and refilling supplies.• Provide for the safety and security of employees and property.• Monitor the safety, appearance and quality of products prepared and/or for sale to customers.• Ensure Outlet and staff is in compliance with all laws and regulations governing the sale of all products, as instructed.• Oversee completion of established goals for designated shift. Delegate work assignments to subordinates. Monitor the progress, completion, effectiveness and efficiency of delegated work assignments.• Make recommendations to increase productivity, lower costs, boost sales, improve guest and/or employee satisfaction, and any other suggestions that might improve outlet appearance, quality, safety and/or profitability.• Other supervisory tasks may include but are not limited to conducting inventory, compiling and submitting reports, budgeting, employee evaluations, compiling and reconciling daily sales, ordering, maintaining and controlling cash operations, developing menus, scheduling, and time keeping for payroll.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE • Experience in retail sales and food handling is desired.
Pay range: $16.00 - $20.80 per hour -Sales Assistant
Pay range: $19.95 - $25.96 per hour -Mercantile Supervisor
*Shift Differential: Non-Exempt employees will receive a $1.00 per hour shift differential for any hours worked between 10:00pm and 6:00am.
