    Job Description



    This position serves as the resource expert on laws and regulations for: Family Federal Education Loan (FFEL) public student loans; Michigan Alternative Loan (MI-LOAN) Program private student loans; student loan rehabilitation; total and permanent disability; and judgments. Responsible for SLP’s adherence to the laws and regulations pertaining to these areas and interpreting and explaining student loan laws, rules, and regulations, and reviewing and analyzing newly enacted federal laws, rules, and regulations.

    This position will analyze ongoing program operations and recommend modifications of policies and procedures for the Claims and Collections Section. This position is responsible for training and quality assurance monitoring of both contract and State staff, including the creation of job aids and determining if additional training is needed.

    Three years of professional experience, including one year of experience equivalent to the experienced (P11) level in state service.

    Vacation and Sick Leave: Eligible full-time employees receive between 15 and 35 personal days and 13 sick days per year that may be rolled over to the following year if not used. Eligible employees also receive an additional day each year for community service or school functions.

    Paid Parental Leave: Eligible employees can take 12 weeks of paid leave immediately after a birth or adoption to allow needed time together at home with a new child.
