The Essex Steam Train is looking for a dedicated, organized assistant chef who enjoys working as part of a team in a fast paced culinary environment. The assistant chef will work as a member of our culinary team to prepare menu items on our dinner train and for private events. They will also assist with prep and clean up work as needed in the kitchen area.

Please Note:  All headcount and prep amounts are known before the work day begins.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and cook meals on our train for our guests
• Assist with special event food preparation for private and public events on site and onboard our vessels.
• Ensure high quality and delicious meals for our guests
• Adhere to all safety and hygiene standards in the kitchen
• Unloading and storing deliveries in marked locations.
• Collaborate with our onboard team to provide an elegant dining experience

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a cook, preferably on the hot-line
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work together with your team
• Two references from a prior work environment
• Job Types: Part-time and Full-time positions available

Pay Frequency:

• Bi weekly 

Normal Working days: flexible

• weekend availability a must

Salary: $20.00-$24.00 per hour starting

Requirements

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
•  2 years verifiable experience.
• Strong problem solving and communication skills.
• Exceptional time management skills.
• Ability to stand for 8-hour shifts and lift at least 50 pounds.
• Willingness to comply with all food safety procedures.
• Have reliable transportation to and from work.
