Radiology Director directs and coordinates activities of a radiology or diagnostic imaging department in a hospital or other medical facility. Reviews work schedules and assigns duties to workers to maintain patient flow and achieve production goals. Being a Radiology Director oversees staff in operation of imaging equipment, such as x-ray machine, fluoroscope, CT scanner, or MRI equipment. Evaluates accuracy and quality of images and provides technical assistance to staff. Additionally, Radiology Director demonstrates new techniques, equipment, and procedures to staff. Implements and monitors radiation safety measures to ensure safety of patients and staff and compliance with regulatory requirements. Develops and implements plans, policies, and procedures regarding operations and staffing and, the purchasing of radiology supplies. May require an advanced degree. Typically reports to top management. The Radiology Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be a Radiology Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Responsible for the oversight and supervision of clinical operations and practice at all BH radiology locations, including Park Avenue Medical Center and the Milford Campus. Ennsures achievement of the YNHH strategic objectives and mission in the field of patient service, teaching, research, and community service. Ensures compliance with provider-based regulations, exceptional stardards of practice, and efficient and cost effective operations, promotes a culture of safe and exemplary patient and family centered care, and facilitates the conduct of community based-clinical research. Manages a wide variety of administrative and fiscal activities to ensure the efficient operation of all clinical and non-clinical activities within the medical center including oversight of all staff and programs through a matrix reporting structure. The incumbent will have matrix responsibility for all personnel and programs of radiology at all campuses; inclusive of contracted services and personnel and YMG services. The incumbent identifies opportunities, develops business plans, and implements plans for program growth and development. Oversees all operations, budgeting, regulatory readiness, accreditation and credentialing, staff, quality and safety assurance, patient and physician experience & relations (most exams ordered by other physicians), contracted radiologist staffing, clinical program development, training and education, and marketing for all imaging locations .

    Responsibilities

    • 1. Clinical Program Management:
      • 1.1 Monitor staff compliance with BH policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, as well as with systems and processes developed to enhance patient care.
    • 2. Leadership:
      • 2.1 Promotes the organization to all customers by interpreting and communicating Yale New Haven Health System mission and values, acting as a loyal, supportive, and informed spokesperson for the unit/program, division, and Hospital.
    • 3. Customer Service:
      • 3.1 Achieves seamless delivelry of service by appropriately involving patients, physicians, other customers and staff to ensure commitment.
    • 4. Outcomes Management:
      • 4.1 Ensure that desired clinical outcomes are achieved through cost effective and efficient processes.
    • 5. Program Development:
      • 5.1 Assists Ambulatory and service line leadership in designing, developing, and implementing clinical and fiscal goals and responsive network program goals, objectives, priorities, standards and practices based on national benchmarks, outcomes of continuous quality improvement initiatives, patient, physician and staff feedback and other relevant resources.
    • 6. Operations and Service Excellence:
      • 6.1 Ensure that desired clinical services are rendered through timely, coordinated multidisciplinary cost effective and efficient processes.
    • 7. Human Resource Management:
      • 7.1 Provides vision and leadership to staff in a collaborative environment that offers job satisfaction, recognition, and stimulates innovative thinking to accomplish goals and objectives.
    • 8. Fiscal Management and Regulatory Compliance:
      • 8.1 Participates in development of and manages site operating budgets in a manner that ensure delivery of cost effective, high quality care.
    • 9. Cultural Consensus and Integrity:
      • 9.1 Partners with Ambulatory and service line leadership, YNHHS Sr. Leadership, staff and physicians to reinforce system mission, vision and values.
    • 10. Facility Management:
      • 10.1 Serves as Unit Leader for emergency management and business continuity and collaborates with emergency preparedness team, security and community responders to communicate and execute EM/BC plans.

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION

     

    Bachelor's degree in business, public health, health services administration or related field required. Master's degree in Health Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred.

     

    EXPERIENCE

     

    5 years program leadership experience preferred. A minimum of 2 years of leadership directly in ambulatory or free standing surgical or healthcare facilities preferred. Significant operational and management skills required. Working knowledge of and experience with regulatory and TJC standards and requirements.

     

    SPECIAL SKILLS

     

    Ability to direct a diverse work force in an outpatient operational environment. Ability to manage and remain effective with multiple priorities. Excellent communication skills. Knowledge of and proficient in the operation and use of computer-based information systems, to facilitate all aspects of care delivery. Knowledgeable of Quality Improvement processes, and capable of implementing concepts. Ability to implement and support change required. Excellent administrative, technical, communication, customer service and organizational skills. Ability ot interact professionally at all levels of management and senior management and with physicians an deliver results in a team based collaborative practice environment. Strong management and financial management experiese with savvy business skills, along with exceptional clinical management knowledge. Ability to collaborate with professionals, clinicians, and support staff and the ability to build a collaborative practice environment. Flexibility and the ability to multi-task required. Ability to succssfully drive performance through a matrix reporting structure. Travel between network sites required.
