As a member of our iOS engineering team, you will have the opportunity to bring new experiences to millions of listeners across Pandora, SiriusXM, and Stitcher across the Apple ecosystem. As a Principal Software Engineer on the iOS engineering team, you will be responsible for architecting, developing, and evangelizing software that enables SiriusXM to deliver the best-in-class streaming services.

    What you’ll do:

You will work in a modern iOS development environment, using recent technologies like SwiftUI, async/await, Combine, Codable, and SPM.

    • Design, architect, build, and evangelize software solutions and tools that enhance the developer experience for Client Software Engineering

    • Partner with Client Software Engineering leaders to identify development challenges, design solutions and deliver those solutions to the teams you serve

    • Proactively consult with and provide guidance to Client Software Engineering leadership on advanced technological issues

    • Operate effectively in multi-departmental projects or when interfacing with third parties

    • Design and implement features that impact the critical direction of the organization

    • Rally and inspire people to develop breakthrough solutions; be a leader of cutting-edge innovation

    • Serve as a stabilizing presence during transitions and chaotic conditions; provide clear direction and positive encouragement

    • Consider the needs of clients, constituents, and the organization; shift priorities appropriately

    • Ask the questions that encourage others to think differently and enrich their analyses of complex situations

    • Anticipate opportunities in time to introduce technical solutions that will be needed by future projects

    • Build a deep understanding of the whole business

    • Make decisions in a highly data-driven manner, using third party as well as internally gathered analytics data to drive decisions and measure the effectiveness of changes

    • Be responsive to the business in proposing and developing new products and services

    • Identify opportunities to create new products and services that meet current and prospective market opportunities

    What you’ll need:

    • 15 years of total professional software development experience

    • 5 years of hands-on experience with Swift, and native iOS development

    • 3 years managing (directly or as a Principal IC) software engineers in a technical organization

    • Expert knowledge of developing, testing, and debugging mobile applications using Swift and Objective-C

    • Experience with SwiftUI, async/await, Combine, Codable, and SPM

    • Expertise in software patents; you should be listed on several patents

    • Familiarity with emerging iOS development trends and design patterns

    • Extensive knowledge of alternative technology choices and a track record of innovative solutions to strategic problems

    • Mastery understanding of engineering software processes, lifecycle methodology, configuration

    • management, release management, and system verification and testing.

    • Experience leading teams that build and optimize streaming media applications at scale

    • Experience optimizing network service stacks for increased performance (reduced load times, battery drain, etc.), for all connection levels

    • Strong knowledge of concurrency and multithreaded programming techniques on Apple platforms

    • Strong ability to identify and fix performance bottlenecks and deliver code that meets performance budgets and goals

    • Experience and proven track record of delivering and maintaining software at scale to millions of active users

    • Excellent leadership skills and interpersonal skills; effectively communicate and collaborate with all areas of engineering; ability to interact and work with staff at all levels.

    • Track record of successfully managing relationships with device/OS vendor partners like Apple, Google, and Amazon

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions

    • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize, multitask, and work under shifting deadlines

    • Dedication to thorough testing and creating high quality software

    • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.
