Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) jobs in Las Cruces, NM

Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II administers radiation therapy by exposing specific areas of the patient's body to prescribed doses of radiation. Maintains patient charts, noting such information as the area treated, the radiation dosage, equipment control settings, the patient's reactions, and the total amount of radiation received to date. Being a Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II consults with radiation oncologists and other clinical staff as needed. May require a bachelor's degree in a related area. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II typically requires graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program, certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), and a state license to practice. Typically reports to a physician or manager. The Radiation Therapy Technologist (ARRT) II work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     Position Summary

    Responsible for the quality control program in the Radiation Therapy department, including calibration of all equipment, and assisting the dosimetrist in treatment planning.

    Qualifications

    Minimum Qualifications

      • Minimum Education: Four-year degree preferred.
      • Minimum Experience: Must be knowledgeable of the operation methods and safety standards of all equipment producing ionizing radiation within the department. Must be able to handle radiation sources. Three years clinical experience required.
      • Certification/Licensure:Must be certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT). Must be licensed by the state or eligible for licensure. CPR certification required.

    Certification or completion courses must meet the standards of Memorial Medical Center.
