Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The California Cancer Center, part of the Community Regional Medical Center located in Fresno, CA is currently seeking a Certified Medical Dosimetrist. As a Dosimetrist you’ll work closely with physicians, therapists, and medical physicists to prepare radiation treatment plans as approved by a Radiation Oncologist. Assist with special procedures and provide dosimetry support for radiation oncology treatment.Awarded three-year accreditation our California Cancer Center is the highest (ACOS) American College of Surgeons designed program in the San Joaquin Valley. Our cancer programs offers a full scope of cancer programs through an on-site evaluation by experienced health care professionals. We are (CoC) Commission on Cancer accredited and are committed to providing the highest level of quality cancer care. With a complete range of state of the art services and equipment in the region our advanced technology includes: two Elekta linear accelerators, a CyberKnife with an active SRS/SBRTprogram, Pinnacle Treatment Planning System – including MBS and spice, and Raystation software, Mosaiq EMR, Toshiba large Bore CT scanner, two Varian HDR units and an active seed implant brachytherapy program. The ideal candidate will have an overall working knowledge of treatment machines, equipment, simulation process and brachytherapy procedures. You will have effective communication skills, customer service and critical thinking-skills with the ability to provide alternatives treatment plans and work collaboratively with the physicist and radiation oncologist to ensure the best care for our patients.
