Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates computerized isodose plans for radiation oncology patients. Computes standard dose calculations and determines computerized generation of isodose curves for external beam hyperthermia and brachytherapy radiation treatment programs. Being a Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. Interprets physician prescriptions to develop a therapeutic treatment plan. Additionally, Radiation Therapy Dosimetrist typically requires completion of a training program in medical dosimetry and ARRT registration in radiation therapy. Requires a bachelor's degree of physical or biological sciences. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Responsible for assisting in the development of treatment plans and helping to implement plans into practice. Position is supervised by either the Supervisor of Photon Dosimetry or the Manager of Dosimetry and Radiation Therapy Services. They do not supervise others and receive a moderate amount of supervision. Responds to the unique needs of pediatric, adolescent and geriatric patients as the need arises

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Required: Graduate from an accredited School of Radiation Therapy. Work experience may NOT substitute for minimum education requirement. Must be skilled in computers and programs. Capability to perform tasks with little supervision.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree. ARIA/Eclipse experience preferred.
LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:
Required: Currently registered as a Registered Technologist with Radiation Therapy Designation R.T. (T)(ARRT) by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) required.
