Maintenance Supervisor, Parking

  • Job Summary:

    The parking maintenance supervisor is responsible for the supervision of the maintenance staff and is integral to the department’s ability to maintain a high appearance level at all Olympia Parking facilities.  The supervisor will also ensure all facilities’ cleaning and maintenance expectations are met.

    Key Responsibilities / Skill Requirements:

    • Supervising the internal cleaning and maintenance colleagues.
    • Scheduling tasks for maintenance colleagues.
    • Supervising parking equipment, landscape and snow removal contractors as well as the TPG post-event cleaning crew.
    • Liaison with parking equipment manufacturer to ensure all parking equipment is maintained properly.
    • Improving the appearance of the ODMP facilities for guests and visitors to the District Detroit.
    • Increasing parking equipment efficiency, along with reducing down-time due to kiosk issues and gate arms repairs.
    • Identify lighting and CCTV issues and submit work orders for repairs.
    • Identifying and repairing safety hazards (potholes, trip hazards, etc.).
    • Providing capital planning for facility maintenance needs.
    • Coordinate annual power washing, window washing, sweeping, striping, and other maintenance-related items for the department.
    • Planning and implementing long-term projects and repairs.
    • Implements preventive repair and housekeeping improvement programs and monitors progress of the programs
    • Responsible for equipment supervision and provides accurate supervision and instruction for the various supplies and equipment
    • Directly supervises a total of 4 full-time colleagues in the Maintenance Department.  Monitor performance of contracted post-event cleaning crew and provide them with feedback as needed.  Is responsible for providing direction, coordination, and evaluation of these colleagues.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participation in interviewing, hiring, and training colleagues; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining colleagues; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school
    • Two to three years related experience and/or training. Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
    • Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.
    • Establish priorities and organize work; plan and direct the work of subordinate staff.
    • Ability to perform a wide variety of supervisory responsibilities with time-sensitive deadlines.
    • Demonstrated staff development skills in order to properly train and develop staff to meet objectives.
    • Effective team and project leader, able to motivate people, manage timelines and work against budgets.
    • Detail oriented – ability to keep accurate and detailed facility upkeep records.
    • Demonstrated project management skills with coordinating efforts among various departments and staff levels.

    Working Conditions:

    • Frequent visual/auditory attention.
    • Occasional lifting.
    • Exposure to dirt and fumes.
    • May require an extended period of time on your feet.
    • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
