Nursery Job Description
· Assist customers as needed with selecting, and loading of materials.
· Be knowledgeable about plant varieties and make suggestions to customers when needed.
· Help maintain an accurate inventory and help to keep all items in stock.
· Take deliveries if necessary.
· Pull all orders and tag material for orders.
Production
· Be responsible for proper watering of plants on a daily basis.
· Oversee potting and planting of all plant material.
· Prune and maintain trees and all containerized plant material.
· Monitor growth and spacing on all containers to obtain the highest quality plant possible.
· Help maintain all irrigation equipment and monitor for needed improvement.
· Assist with spring setup and fall tipping so it is done in an organized and timely manner.
· Mow and maintain plots at all locations.
· Regulate all changes in inventory sizing or removal, and record correct data.
· Work to find more efficient or successful production methods.
Maintenance
· Maintain all equipment and keep log of repairs.
· Keep buildings and yard clean.
· Organize tools and other equipment.
· Keep yard and fields graded and accessible.
· Maintain structures and use appropriately.
· When finished for the day, put away equipment and lock all buildings.
The job requires a dedicated person willing to go the extra mile to accomplish success. Long days and weeks are generally necessary to stay on schedule and provide optimal nursery stock.
