  • Job Duties and Responsibilities

    Responsible for managing quality continuous improvement initiatives at Howmet Fastening System’s (HFS) sites, based out of our Fullerton, CA location. This role drives and leads a wide range of activities that are designed to improve quality, operations efficiency, productivity, and on-time delivery while minimizing cost and waste.

    • Serve as the resident expert with a deep knowledge of, and commitment to, quality and other lean manufacturing principles and techniques (e.g., continuous improvement, 6 Sigma, etc.).
    • Act as internal consultant and catalyst to assist HFS plant leadership, individuals, and teams in the application of continuous improvement principles and techniques to improve quality.
    • Facilitate successful Kaizen and rapid improvement process events with employees, customers and suppliers, with a major emphasis on HFS site focused quality improvement. Provide support for all follow-throughs required to sustain the improvements during the events.
    • Instruct others in continuous process improvements, including the use of various problem solving and productivity techniques such as process mapping and enhanced RCCA.
    • Provide formal training on RCCA and mistake proofing processes, lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts, principles, and practices.
    • Assist team leaders in team skill and knowledge development to support meeting management goals, project management, improvements, results measurements, problem solving and related team skills.
    • Establish reporting methods to track progress and communication processes to inform the organization of results opportunities.
    • Role to support HFS sites’ continuous improvement activities, as needed (e.g., training, project-based work, best practice support, etc.)
    • Design and prepare procedures to support Quality operations.
    • Enhance and implement effective measurement on quality performance with specific focus on customer complaints and product consistency.
    • Manage and improve the non-conforming material review and control process across HFS sites.
    • As needed, participate in the performance of customer and industry accreditation audits across HFS sites.
    • Assist the HFS Director of Operational Quality in developing plans and policies to continuously improve manufacturing processes and increase product quality and delivery.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 to $170,000.


    Basic Qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university in Engineering or Business or relative military experience
    • At least 2 years of experience in Quality Management with at least 5 years in total quality experience preferred.
    • In-depth knowledge of quality and manufacturing systems, processes and applicable Customer Requirements and Industry Standards / Specifications as well as a practical knowledge of quality systems.
    • Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external personnel at all levels of the organization.
    • Experience leading Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) events
    • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
    • This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience working with NADCAP requirements.
    • Experience implementing and working with Zero Defect Plans.
