OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Manager to join our team. As the Quality Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and compliance with regulations. This is a critical role in our organization, as quality is a top priority for us.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:
This position is responsible for the quality, including prevention of scrap defects related to metal and sand. A primary responsibility would be to maintain accurate chemistries and mechanical properties within the iron. The Quality Manager is the score keeper for the foundry processes, including charting, analyzing, documenting cause, effect, and solutions. The Quality Manager will work closely with customers regarding any concerns they have because of casting defects. The position requires accurate, timely, and consistent testing of metal and sand processes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
· Knowledge of furnaces and control of melting processes
· Responsible for accurate chemistries of the iron and mechanical properties to meet required specs.
· Control of sand processes used in air set molding and core making.
· Control of raw materials, supplier audits
· Utilize and operate quality testing equipment such as Spectrometer, Microscope, Brinell Hardness
· Maintain a certifiable quality/business system.
· Manage internal quality audits and complete customer requested quality audits.
· Liaison with customers both internal and external regarding corrective actions and process changes
· Communicate timely and accurate data to customers working to resolve scrap defects.
· Responsible for providing technical support to managers and supervisors of foundry operations.
· Continuously monitor and make improvements to reduce scrap defects related to metal or sand.
· Problem Solver – Root Cause Analysis
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
· Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field preferred. Individuals with an associate degree in engineering, or a related field, with significant industrial experience will be considered.
· Minimum of 4-5 years previous engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment required. Prior metals industry experience is a plus.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
· Ability to take initiative, including asking for and offering help when needed; performs work independently without being prompted.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. The ability to interact with internal technical staff, external suppliers, and customers in a manufacturing environment.
