Quality Generalist Manager develops and administers policies and procedures for evaluating and improving the quality of products, materials, components and/or manufacturing processes. Makes recommendations to ensure production runs meet established quality standards and predicted yields. Being a Quality Generalist Manager ensures employees follow established procedures and complete quality assurance work within time and budgetary constraints. May be responsible for ensuring products meet international quality standards such as ISO 9001. Additionally, Quality Generalist Manager works across a variety of quality assurance disciplines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Quality Generalist Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Quality Generalist Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager plays a vital role in leading a team that conducts regular process audits and SOP adherence. The QA Manager leads root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective and preventative action (CAPA) investigations while also maintaining data within a Quality Management System (QMS). This position should possess the ability to lead and collaborate effectively.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Develop and execute comprehensive audit plans for cultivation, processing, packaging, and distribution processes.
    • Lead the QA team in conducting inspections, cycle audits, and data analysis to identify and address potential quality issues.
    • Perform RCA’s/CAPA’s on process deviations, product complaints, and incidents, pinpointing underlying causes and recommending corrective and preventative actions.
    • Collaborate effectively with the department heads of cross-functional teams (cultivation, compliance, packaging, etc.) to implement RCA/CAPA’s and ensure their effectiveness to prevent reoccurrence.
    • Identify any potential risks and/or non-conformances in operational procedures through gap analysis and process observation.
    • Prepare and enter comprehensive audit reports with detailed findings, observations, recommendations, and follow-up plans into the QMS.
    • Manage the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation in the QMS.
    • Oversee new QA employee onboarding, training, and any future training.
    • Responds to management inquiries and/or requests, and resolves issues in a timely, friendly, and efficient manner.
    • Oversee and manage all aspects of the QA program including development, implementation, and ongoing control of processes.
    • Conducts all duties in compliance with safety rules, applicable SOP’s, and other applicable guidelines.
    • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the QA program by identifying opportunities for process optimization.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of relevant cannabis regulations, industry best practices and quality assurance principles.
    • Maintains a high standard of orderliness and professionalism.
    • Maintain and foster a positive company culture.
    • Completes all required training on time.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Must be able to obtain a state medical marijuana badge and pass a background check.
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment.
    • Ability to exercise judgement within defined parameters and policies and to propose practice and policy improvements.
    • Willingness and ability to travel to other operational sites as the need arises. ·
    • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
    • Effective time-management skills and the ability to multi-task.
    • Must be able to gain basic understanding of Veeva Vault/C15 knowledge.
    • Must be able to gain basic understanding cGMP principles.
    • Foster a culture of quality and continuous improvement.

    Education Requirement

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
    • Must be able to obtain Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt within 3 months of hire.
    • 2 to 4 years of compliance related experience, including use of METRC in the cannabis industry.
    • Prior experience in writing and training team members on implementation of SOP's.
    • Experience with cannabis compliance is strongly preferred.

    Physical Requirement

    • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
    • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
    • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
    • The ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day.
    • The ability to sit or stand for up to 12 hours at a time.
    • The ability to work in bright/hot/humid conditions.
    • The ability to work in low light situations.

    • Exposure to limited hazardous chemicals
