Axiota’s field-based sales and technical teams support beef and dairy producers and their technical advisors. Our current cattle product platform includes Multimin® 90, an injectable trace mineral used for strategic supplementation of cattle, and Lactipro®, a rumen native probiotic that promotes healthy rumen function and stabilizes pH. Axiota plans to expand both platforms to additional species and applications in the future.

Axiota develops our innovative solutions through two technology centers – the MS Biotec® Microbial Technology Center and the Warburton Injectable Trace Mineral Technology Center.

The MS Biotec microbial technology center is located in Wamego, Kansas which is our production, R&D and logistics center for Lactipro products.

Role Overview:

Our Quality Control team is looking for people who are driven to solve problems, share ideas for improvements, all while utilizing analysis skills. This position will be expected to collaborate across all functions and will have a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow in an expanding company.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for managing the QC laboratory in accordance with cGMP, GLP, and company requirements.
• Responsible for the operation and functions of the laboratory group which includes: Raw Materials, Finished Products, Projects, Validation samples, environmental and stability samples.
• Assures adequate communication exists between the lab and production so that all samples are tested in a timely manner.
• Maintains quality control staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and supervising employees training.
• Prepares justification for new analytical and microbiology instrumentation. Prepare purchase orders and coordinate authorization and procurement.
• Provides guidance to resolve problems with instruments, test methods, lab chemicals, standards, and samples.
• Identifies aspects of the tests or results warranting further attention and implement corrective actions.
• Approves Quality Control paperwork, identifying incorrect entries, missing entries, and out of specification entries.
• Capable of producing necessary records for audit trail of Quality Control paperwork.
• Assists in SOP writing and other compliance documents.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology (Microbiology preferred).
• 3 years of experience supervising a science laboratory, including day-to-day operations and management of entry level personnel.
• Ability to lead a high performing team.

Physical Requirements:

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
