Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Working team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Generally has a minimum of 2 years experience as an individual contributor.     SUMMARY : Inspect and inventory fresh and non-perishable in-bound produce to insure freshness before distribution to member stores.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The individual must have the ability to perform the responsibilities listed below.

    The list is not all inclusive of duties that may be requested by the department head or a member of upper management but are intended for an understanding of the purpose of the position.

    It is the responsibility of each individual at AWG to provide ultimate customer service to our members to support their efforts in increasing same store sales and profits.

    1. Inspect all incoming product to meet established USDA and AWG standards.

    2. With coordination of department manager and buying staff, authority to reject product if it fails to meet established standards.

    3. Order and ripen bananas.

    4. Observe the bananas being selected to insure product shipped is from the proper banana rooms and is properly covered.

    5. Monitor reserve stock verifying that proper rotation procedures have been observed.

    6. Monitor merchandise in picking slots and reserve in order to check product age and insure that slots contain the correct item.

    7. Examine damaged cases and repair if possible.

    8. Turn in a brief summary report of daily inspection activities to the Sr. Buyer.

    9. Examine returned merchandise and determine disposition of product.

    10. Locate pilferage areas and report them to Buyers.

    11. Monitor proper temperature control throughout the warehouse.

    12. Work as a member of the AWG team so the total job responsibilities are met. Actions must always stress a sense of cooperation, integrity, tact and consideration with our members, associates and division management.

    13. This position requires strong communication and computer skills with the ability to use and learn new technology. The Flawless Execution method will be utilized in all planning and communication.

    Management will be kept informed on planning, analysis, work performed and results. All records required by management must be complete, accurate and submitted on time.

    QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

    Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY : Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS : Operation of warehouse mobile equipment.

    The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 60 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
