    Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Nurse Residency Supervisor/Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team!

     

    JOB SUMMARY:       

    Plans, implements, supervises, and evaluates the Nurse Residency Program. Assesses, develops, implements, facilitates and evaluates the residency educational and development programs. Integrates the program into existing institutional strategies for nurse graduate recruitment and retention. Implements and oversees an evidence based curriculum that focuses on patient outcomes, leadership in the management of patient care, and the professional role of the nurse. Coordinates small program(s) with limited budget/impact. Works collaboratively with unit-specific educators, department managers, clinical nurse specialists, the DON, and the quality assurance team with assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating educational activities for all staff; specifically focusing on nursing and clinical departments. Assists with the Mountain View Hospital AHA Training Center and oversees competency programs with the Mountain View hospital’s mission and strategic goals. The roles of the Residency supervisor/Quality specialist includes: facilitator, change agent, collaborator, advisor, mentor, consultant, researcher, leader, clinic liaison, and security liaison and training.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Oversee implementation of the Nurse Residency Program in collaboration with the Nurse Residency Advisory committee with input from nurse leadership and unit educators.
    2. Assist with development of Nursing peer review and establish standards for the organization.
    3. Plan, develop, implement, and evaluate education content in response to identified knowledge deficits within the organization.
    4. Develop and implement innovative models of instruction to support clinical learning based on adult learning principles.
    5. Coordinate assignments of instructors and guest presenters for classes, skills labs, and seminars for Nursing Boot Camp and Nurse Residency Program.
    6. Work with nursing management teams to identify priorities for the Nurse Residency Program.
    7. Work with recruitment specialist to recruit and track new graduate nurses through the Nurse Residency Program.  
    8. Attend recruiting events with recruitment specialist and nursing management to assist in identifying new employees and Nurse Residency Program candidates.
    9. Assist guest presenters in choosing seminar topics and preparing seminar curriculum in accordance with program objectives and accreditation goals.
    10. Keep accurate records of students and curriculum materials for accreditation purposes.
    11. As needed, collaborate with management and unit-specific education teams when planning training that affects their clinics/department. Report completion of and attendance of these activities.
    12. Facilitate practical education for Teams (ie. Code Blue, Rapid Response, MSE Teams, Conscience sedation)
    13. Facilitate the unit-specific educators with their coordination of competency assessment programs including the new hire and annual competencies and certifications. Collaborate with them to make sure that he/she is informed of new nursing mentorships and changes in unit-specific competency paperwork.
    14. The position is responsible for ensuring that the program is designed to support multidisciplinary team initiatives. The position will ensure that quality improvement activities are directed toward analysis of data, with a focus on improvement of process.
    15. Collaborate with DON, Compliance department, Unit Managers, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and unit-based educators to implement, communicate, educate, and evaluate standards of care with up to date information.
    16. Prepares reports for QA Committee designed to track various indicators that may identify trends or patterns. When potential problems are identified, will investigate and follow-up trends as directed by the Committee.
    17. Participate as requested as a leader or member of key departmental and hospital committees.
    18. Serve as a consultant for educational activities within organization: AHA programs, EMTALA review, and Code review.
    19. Demonstrate effective proactive situational leadership while working within the framework of Mountain View Hospital’s/ Idaho Falls Community Hospital’s mission, vision, and values by actively supporting new programs and changes in the organization.
    20. Assist with and stay up to date on new training that can be implemented for staff to help keep them current with the constantly evolving field.
    21. Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications


    Education/Certification: Graduate of an accredited RN program.  Current RN licensure in the state of Idaho.  Current BLS, ACLS, PALS. Successful completion of BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor class within 6 months of hire. MSN preferred but not required. Other certifications preferred but not required.

     

    Experience: five or more years’ experience as a nurse, computer skills, education/instructor experience

     

    Equipment/Technology: Microsoft Office Suite, Education equipment

     

    Language/Communication: English

                           

    Mathematical Skills:  Basic

     

    Mental Capabilities:  Ability to critically think, be self-motivated and individually manage tasks and responsibilities. Demonstrate ability to understand and evaluate regulations and guidelines then be able to apply them. Can evaluate suggestions and criticisms objectively and whenever necessary undertakes to change behavior and seek further guidance.

     

    Interpersonal:  Effectively and professionally communicate with administration, co-workers, patients and families.

     

    Performance:  Requires strong oral and written communication and presentation skills. Understanding of organization-wide processes. Requires ability to work independently and with groups/teams as both project leader and team member. Requires attention to detail and ability to assimilate large amounts of information.
