SUMMARY:
The Director of Food Safety and Quality Assurance will have overall responsibility for the execution and implementation of food safety and product quality programs. They will act as an subject matter expert to the company on Food Safety and Quality Systems and own the Supplier Quality and Reporting to ensure product safety and stability. You will bring credible expertise, providing leadership and oversight for Food Safety, including HACCP, micro risk assessments, environmental monitoring programs, thermal validation, allergen management, foreign material controls, capability development and culture. The successful candidate will ensure clear understanding of food safety, requirements, and expectations at all levels across the business with the authority to hold teams accountable to meet the standards and expectations that assures the food safety of products.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to work effectively in a multi-tasking work environment, and pivot where needed based on projects or marketing requests
· HACCP certification required.
· GFSI (BRC, SQF or FSSC 22000) certifications preferred
· Understands and can apply basic microbiological principles. In depth foodborne pathogen knowledge.
· Strong written & verbal communication skills, analytical ability, leadership strength and ability to work effectively with teams are required
· Knowledge of food laws and U.S regulations
· Strong auditing and assessment skills are required
· Excellent communication skills: is able to effectively and persuasively articulate positions both verbally and in electronic mediums to various audiences including senior executives in a clear, concise and compelling manner
· This position can base out of either our Beaverton or Bay City Location. Travel requirement if based in Beaverton of 50%-70%, If based out of Bay City travel requirement will be 15%-30%
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
· Bachelor’s Degree with 10 years of experience in quality assurance and 5 years of experience in a management role.
