    Job Overview

    This position assists the Quality Assurance Manager in the establishment and improvement of the overall quality of the processes, procedures and practices used throughout the KMD organization. This position is to coordinate and direct the companywide efforts to identify, solve and implement product and reliability improvements in all machines produced in its facilities that are used worldwide.

    Key Job Responsibilities
    • Implement Juhin (serious quality problem) registry and establish goals and completion dates based upon prioritization such as major failures, high dollar expense, and high frequencies.
    • Review and analyze monthly warranty claim expenses and assign prioritized action plans to respective departments.
    • Assist in establishing and implementing SQP processes within major supplier organizations and conduct monthly quality improvement meetings, reporting results of goals and action plans.
    • Analyze TSIs, ETSIs and other field data and provide technical data to all involved areas.
    • Develop and analyze quality indexes to ensure that Product Quality is within the Company's requirements and goals. Report the results of these indices to Komatsu corporate office at the assigned time intervals.
    • Follow department annual capacity and cost plans and implement necessary actions.
    • Direct and guide the activities of Service, Manufacturing, Engineering, Warranty, Quality Control and Marketing to ensure that action plans are followed and achieved. Indirect supervision of engineering, service and manufacturing personnel, providing direction and prioritization of critical issues relating to product quality, reliability and performance.
    • Coordinate with Parts and Sales Departments the impact which product resolutions may have on their departments.
    • Develop QA orders on to the factory for campaign and modification parts.
    Qualifications/Requirements
    • Minimum of a BS degree in Engineering (electrical and/or mechanical). 5 to 7 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, and/or service.
    • Knowledge of construction and mining equipment, Komatsu products preferred.
    • Working knowledge of Quality Control and Quality Assurance practices and procedures and industry standards.
    • Persuasive communication skills and the ability to interface with all levels of people.
    • Excellent presentation and writing skills.
    • Strong working skills with computers (spreadsheets, data bases, etc.)
    • Strong analytical skills (economic and analysis).
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (life, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Physical ability to work in a manufacturing environment, which has industrial equipment and associated personnel performing varied assembly work, some of which includes heavy / hot work (e.g. welding). This work will commonly require walking around equipment and the associated tooling within the manufacturing facility to review the assembly and manufacturing of heavy equipment and related processes.
