Purchasing Supervisor supervises daily procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates pricing, monitors performance, and expedites to respond to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Supervisor collaborates with other functions to meet current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Supervisor performs auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Purchasing Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. The Purchasing Clerk is committed to supporting the needs of our client, in order to continue being the Global leader in flat extrusion die and feed block manufacturing, quality and technology, by compiling requests for materials, preparing purchase orders, tracking purchases and supplies, and handling all other inquiries for the Purchasing Department.Primary Duties & Responsibilities- Compile requests for materials, supplies, and services.
- Gather information and records to execute purchase orders.
- Track the status of requisitions and orders.
- Research vendors and collects prices, specifications, and other data related to materials.
- Ensure purchase arrive on schedule and meet specifications.
- Respond to internal and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.
- Monitor inventory and execute replenishment based on Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) configuration.
- Performing all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Knowledge, Abilities, & Skills for Success- Effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner through written and verbal communications in all interfaces with customers/public, fellow employees, vendors, etc.
- Ability to use appropriate computer programs (including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite) which includes having proficient computer skills and the ability to adapt and learn as programs and processes change.
- Ability to work as a team member and exert initiative to work independently to reach Team goals.
- Ability to embrace change in the workplace, while encouraging others to seek innovative approaches.
- Ability to function effectively as a team player.
- Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including overtime, as needed, to best serve our business operations.
Qualifications- At a minimum, the Purchasing Clerk must have a high school diploma, or equivalent, along with 2 years of purchasing experience and proven knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Prior knowledge and experience working within an ERP system is preferred.
