With a key eye on customer service and cost containment the Purchasing Manager will help optimize the Supply Chain processes by utilizing his/her background in both a direct and indirect purchasing and materials management capacity, as it relates to site production and maintenance. The Purchasing Manager will need to understand specific material portfolios and suppliers in order to effectively source and procure materials to support our business needs.
Together the Purchasing Manager will collaborate with and support department managers by helping manage vendor relations. He or she will review, recommend, and negotiate service contracts, quotes, terms and conditions and other agreements with respect to the company’s business goals and guidelines. Through consistent market analysis the Purchasing Manager will prepare and participate in strong negotiations that support local, national and global sourcing strategies.
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for tracking and managing inventory related to the needs of the plants and the business, auditing discrepancies.
Requirements:
· Excellent contract negotiation skills and a proven track record with Supplier Contract Management.
· Strong financial acumen with a deep understanding of cost containment.
· Excellent and effective written and oral communication skills.

· Proficiency with SAP.
· Proficiency with short term and long-term production planning and scheduling.
· Experience working with product development from quotation to production.
· Experience, exposure and/or training in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S is preferred.
· Understanding and experience of RFI, RFP & RFQ processes.
· Understanding of preparing and maintaining budgets.
· Proven leadership and insight to influence and drive future processes or strategic procurement improvements.
· Proven project management skills with effective use of resources and completion of measuring of project success.
· Proven problem solving and follow-up skills.
· Ability to work in a team environment and/or independent as required.
· Ability to identify alternative packaging materials and raw materials as secondary sources that meet quality, cost, and service requirements, based on the company’s purchasing needs.
· Ability to work closely with suppliers to maintain quality of raw materials and timely shipments.
· Partners with quality to analyze supplier performance, quality, and delivery requirements.
· Process quality complaints for raw material and packaging directly with the suppliers to avoid recurrences.
· Demonstrated abilities to identify and capture synergies.
· Monitors inventories of raw materials.
· Coordinates communication of supplier activities and problems with manufacturing operations.
Qualifications:
· Minimum of a bachelor’s degree - Advanced degree and relevant CPM certifications preferred.
· 4-6 years’ experience in a purchasing capacity with direct spending in excess of 20M and/or relevant experience is required.
· Experience purchasing a combination of the following: packaging, natural gas, maintenance spare parts and contracts development is highly sought.
· 3 years of experience managing a team of both exempt and non-exempt employees.
· Must demonstrate strong negotiation skills.
· Must have a broad understanding of contracts and laws.
· Manufacturing experience is required.
· BOPP industry experience is highly desired.
