Purchasing Manager manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Manager collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Manager oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Description

    Manage the purchasing and supply activities of goods and services to ensure an adequate supply of material to support company objectives. Negotiate supplier contracts. Maintain relationships with suppliers and contract manufacturers to manage inventory levels cost targets delivery expectations and quality performance. Implement appropriate material management methodologies to support manufacturing.

    Job Duties

    • Administer day to day activities of all purchasing staff.
    • Manage the purchasing and supply chain activities of goods and services to ensure an adequate supply of material to support company objectives in a timely manner.
    • Manages material supply to NPI projects ensuring delivery in accordance with the project plan.
    • Support Corporate and Local policies and processes.
    • Assure the effective use of company funds by securing the best value of goods and services.
    • Drive the supplier selection process for the company and participate in supplier reduction programs in coordination with the Commodity Management Team.
    • Collaborate with Quality regarding supplier quality system approval and with Engineering regarding technical issues and supplier capabilities.
    • Manage the relationship with contract manufacturers including inventory levels cost structure delivery schedules and overall quality and delivery performance.
    • Manage the decision-making process and attend OTD meetings to resolve material systems project control issues related to the supply chain and assign root cause for late shipments.
    • Support the Lean Sigma strategy for continuous improvement.
    • Oversee MRB (Material Review Board).
    • Provide analysis of material requirements based on forecast orders and other methods.
    • Implement member of new product introduction teams

    Job Requirements

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


    • Bachelor’s degree required.
    • Five or more years of related experience in supply chain management including departmental leadership experience.
    • Experience with Lean supply chain methods
    • Excellent analytical and planning skills
    • Excellent communication skills
    • CPM or CPIM certification is desirable.
    • Experience with ISO 13485 and FDA 21CFR820 quality management systems
    • Occasional travel including internationally.
