Purchasing Manager jobs in Chattanooga, TN

The Purchasing Manager is primarily responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and controlling plant spend.

• Train team members and manage overall purchasing systems and procedures
• Evaluate vendor quotes with appropriate negotiation and purchasing techniques, ensuring quality, price, delivery and service
• Manage, and monitor procurement reporting systems
• Recruit and maintain suppliers that provide high quality products and services at a fair prices, while maintaining the highest code of ethics and conduct
• Prepare and issue purchase contracts and change notices
• Review and resolve vendor claims and contracts for conformance to policy
• Prepare and review contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legality, price, and acceptability of items to specifications
• Arrange buy-backs of surplus materials
• Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and price, and prepare market analysis reports
• All other relevant duties as required

• Bachelor degree in any related business field (in lieu of education, 10 years progressive procurement experience considered) 
• Purchasing related certifications preferred
• 7 year(s) purchasing experience, preferably in poultry industry 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 
• Proficient technology, computer, mathematical and analytical skills
• Detail oriented

Typical office environment within plant setting:

• Use of computer, telephone and other office equipment 
• May encounter frequent interruptions throughout the work day
• Regularly required to sit, talk, and listen
• Repetitive hand motions, and occasional standing, walking, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs
• Exposure to noise levels greater than 85 decibels
• Exposure to strong, raw meat odor
