Purchasing Manager manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Manager collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Manager oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Purchasing Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Summary
    The Manager Purchasing is responsible for the purchasing and procurement activities for the commodity category (Wire, Conduit, etc.) for a specialty business within Rexel USA. Will negotiate with vendors, manage costs, provide commercial support, and ensure profitability. The Manager Purchasing will also be responsible for driving stock sales growth, providing guidance on the market, and managing the buying activity and customer service metrics.



    What You’ll Do

    • Responsible for commodity category (Wire, Conduit, etc.) for a specialty business within Rexel USA for purchasing and procurement activities
    • Negotiate with vendors on our commodity needs. This includes cost negotiation and local rebate negotiation
    • Commercial support on project and blanket negotiation with the branch and leadership
    • System cost management driven by understanding of market dynamics as well as profitability of the category
    • Clear understanding and measured on overall profitability of the category. This includes the commercial margin and overall global margin metrics
    • Become a key facilitator for driving stock sales growth of the category by working closely with the leadership
    • Have a clear view on the market and give guidance to the commercial teams
    • Procurement responsibilities
    • Responsible for the buying activity / PO placement / Expediting activity for the category
    • Other duties as assigned

    What You’ll Need

    • High School or GED
    • Bachelor's Degree preferred
    • 5 years of professional purchasing/buying experience in the Electrical Distribution Industry
    • Prior supervisory experience a plus


    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Understand market dynamics and drive the most effective supplier alignment. Key factors - supplier positioning, core manufacturing capability, supplier performance, and profitability
    • Understand related product and services to core category implement complimentary strategies to achieve objectives
    • Experience in commodity management in Electrical or related Industry
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Strong analytical skills
