Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for properly receiving and storing all incoming resort goods. They will assist with the inbound & outbound freight and package tracking for the resort. The Purchasing Assistant will assist in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond standards. The Purchasing Assistant will always conduct them self in manner which supports Sunriver Resort’s Core Values: Trust, Commitment, and Open & Honest Communication.

     

    They shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times and will be responsible for exemplifying the Sunriver Resort Culture as well as promoting Sunriver Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!

    Responsibilities

    • Stores all received food, beverage, chemicals, paper and supplies in the designated location, ensuring proper rotation of goods
    • Assists with managing the inbound and outbound freight and package tracking for the resort
    • Fills requisitions, stages orders and delivers products at pre-determined times
    • Keeps storerooms clean and orderly
    • Delivers F&B products to resort outlets from central storerooms
    • Checks quality and quantity of received goods, comparing invoice to purchase order and communicates any differences to buyer
    • Communicates outs/short orders to customers
    • Assists with writing and placing orders using a purchase order
    • Assists with product transfers using Foodtrak
    • Responsible for keeping storeroom clean, safe and orderly at all times, including floors cleaned and cardboard broken down daily
    • Monitors and communicates product shortages/overstock and quality concerns regularly
    • Transports goods between Purchasing Dept. and outlets.
    • Participates in continuing product and systems trainings
    • Assists Director of Purchasing with month-end physical inventory
    • Works closely with F&B and resort managers to analyze costs, providing help as needed.
    • Attends all appropriate department, division and resort meetings
    • Provides general resort information for guests
    • Offers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Sunriver Resort including use of guest name when possible & good eye contact with each guest
    • Maintains an up to date working knowledge of all resort amenities as well as any special events
    • Interacts with resort staff in a professional manner, assisting other departments with necessary information
    • Always maintains a professional demeanor and attitude
    • Communicates all pertinent information to the Purchasing team
    • Maintains constant awareness of safety issues, (i.e. broken glass, frayed electrical cords, leaks, broken locks and suspicious persons). Reports all safety incidents to on-duty supervisor.
    • Acts with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment.
    • Maintains a professional appearance. Follows all Sunriver Resort dress code standards.
    • Remains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all times
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent required
    • College education preferred
    • Prior experience in hotel/resort purchasing, receiving or related field preferred
    • Prior hospitality experience preferred
    • At least one year customer service experience preferred
    • Must be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permit
    • Must have valid drivers license and meet resort driving standards
    • Must have valid OLCC card
    • Must have valid Food Handler’s permit
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Must be able to frequently lift and carry up to 60 lbs alone, and occasionally up to 125 lbs with help
