Purchasing Director manages procurement and purchasing operations and implements the strategy to provide the materials and services to meet organizational requirements for quality, volume, availability, and pricing. Maintains strategic supplier relationships, negotiates contracts, and implements systems for monitoring performance, assessing risk, and responding to changes in demand or disruptions in the supply chain. Being a Purchasing Director collaborates with other functions to define current and future inventory requirements and manage inventory levels. Implements processes and systems and utilizes technical tools to analyze data and increase responsiveness to material demands. Additionally, Purchasing Director oversees auditing processes to ensure procurement and recordkeeping comply with any applicable industry or governmental regulations. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Purchasing Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Purchasing Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.   • The Director of Purchasing with The Diplomat Beach Resort plans, organizes, directs and controls all purchasing functions of the hotel to ensure that the highest quality product is purchased at the best possible price. Controls inventories at appropriate levels. Manages the RFP and bid process. Obtain bids from vendors according to the specifications set by the standards and/or department head. Determines the best possible price for the desired items and place orders for all food and non-food items. Schedules deliveries of items and monitor the quality of products received. Interviews, trains, supervises, counsels, schedules and evaluates staff.

    What will I be doing?

    You will be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standards:

    • Obtain competitive quotations for hotel requirements and ensure that the best product is sourced and purchased, using company nominated suppliers where applicable.
    • Ensure locally nominated supplier information is kept current and adhered to.
    • Accurately manage the database of active local contracts with suppliers
    • Adhere to quality procedures & standards ensuring that all Hilton policies are upheld.
    • Work with Finance to draft the annual budget for the Department.
    • Ensure that department Team Members are informed and coached to Hilton standards.
    • Ensure an accurate, comprehensive system for allocating and reconciling purchase orders.
    • Manage relationships with hotel suppliers and report on their performance.
    • Manage employee relations, recruiting, training and coaching Team Members as required.
    • Lead the operation of the storerooms while upholding company health and safety, quality assurance and control procedures.
    • Compile accurate stock records, maintain proper records of requisition and replenishment transactions. 
    • Prepare month end and ad hoc reports in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Execute tasks/requests as instructed by the Hotel Manager.
    • Maintain, monitor, and execute requisitions in the Beverage Storeroom.
