    As a Purchasing Agent your typical work assignments may include:

    Processes purchase requests through delivery orders, government purchase card, purchase orders, blanket purchase agreements, and memoranda of understanding.
    Develops purchasing/solicitation strategy by analyzing a variety of information, such as specifications, FAR parts, history files, market conditions, item characteristics, or catalogs, and analyzing various tradeoffs, such as cost of renting vs. purchasing, free services included, vendor reputation or previous performance, etc.
    Enters into a variety of purchase action types.
    Performs in-depth analysis of specifications for specialized or "made to order" equipment.

    Qualifications
    Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.

    Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    One year of specialized experience for this position includes:

    GS-07: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-06 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: reviewing purchase requests for completeness and accuracy; employing a number of conventional methods to resolve a variety of purchasing problems; processing purchasing requests on a wide variety of office equipment, supplies, and services; and issuing modifications and purchase order awards.

    GS-08: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level or pay band in the Federal service that includes performing the following duties: performing complex purchasing work procuring equipment and supplies for an agency; negotiating blanket purchase orders and memoranda of understanding; recommending revisions to statement of work or specifications; and performing comprehensive cost analysis on goods and services.
