Purchasing Agent jobs in Newark, DE

Technical Purchasing Agent needed for growing refractory manufacturing business with three USA locations.

Salary based on qualifications and experience.

Travel will be required.

Duties include:

• Obtaining technical offers (refractory material/purchased material, technical equipment, technical systems)
• Communication with suppliers
• Researching of possible suppliers or alternative suppliers, e.g. at trade fairs
• Price comparisons, price negotiations incl. preparation of contracts
• Orders according to requirements
• Checking order confirmations
• Handling supplier complaints
• Internal contact with commercial purchasing, technical sales, engineering, SCM, QM, R&D
• Close cooperation with the entire commercial purchasing department
• Oversight of capital projects. Working with local staff to specify needs and locate suppliers.

Preferred:

• Completed technical education ideally in combination with commercial education (degree or technical college as a minimum requirement)
• Engineering background
• Several years of experience in a comparable position or career change from technical sales
• Knowledge of the refractory industry with an existing network
• Solid experience in conducting negotiations
• Process management experience
• SAP system experience
• Familiarity with global supply chains
