Inputs transactions and administers a purchasing and contracts system or database. Being a Purchasing Agent interacts with suppliers to obtain favorable pricing terms, product specifications, monitor availability, and optimize savings. Expedites delayed orders and resolves issues with changes, returns, replacements, and credit arrangements. Additionally, Purchasing Agent coordinates with internal teams to ensure that procurement needs are met promptly and efficiently. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or team leader. The Purchasing Agent independently performs a wide range of complex duties under general guidance from supervisors. Purchasing Specialist
What Will You Do?
You will be responsible for facilitating communication between Manufacturing Operations, Design, Engineering and Purchasing to collect data to support the selection of primary and secondary suppliers of raw materials, components and/or MRO supplies that offer the best-delivered value to the Ashley Companies. Perform initial price negotiations with suppliers as needed. Serve as the company representative to prospective suppliers, communicate company needs and gather information from suppliers regarding their products and services. Provide recommendations to the Global Commodity Manager on best course of action based on initial price negotiations and supplier selection research.
