Punch Press Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. Being a Punch Press Operator responsibilities include configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings, recognizing condition of dies, loading materials onto the equipment, feeding material through die, and positioning and removing parts from the die. Keeps a record of operational data and performs routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, Punch Press Operator monitors work schedule to ascertain production information, such as size, type, and quantity to be processed. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Punch Press Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Punch Press Operator: Position Overview
- Operate press machines and related equipment in a continuous production/processing operation.
- Inspecting parts for conformance to specifications, visually or using gauges or templates, and may adjust machine to correct errors
- Follow established production/process specifications or instructions.
- Change dies and material coils as necessary.
- Perform manual packaging operations to fill, mark, label, band, tie pack, and/or wrap containers with products and materials.
- Tally, weigh, stack, and arrange products and packed containers.
Preferred Skills / Experience:
- Operator should have experience in tasks related to the set-up, maintenance and operation of the press.
- Knowledge of blanking die layouts and clearances
- Ability to compute numbers, widths, and angles of die components using micrometers, scales, and gauges
- Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to communicate with supervisors and / or peers both in both written and verbal formats.
- Most be able to stand and / or sit for long periods of time.
- Knowledge of geometric tolerancing.
- Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Successful applicants will be required to pass a background check and drug screening.
