Punch Press Operator configures and operates electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. Being a Punch Press Operator responsibilities include configuring equipment and calibrating gauge settings, recognizing condition of dies, loading materials onto the equipment, feeding material through die, and positioning and removing parts from the die. Keeps a record of operational data and performs routine equipment maintenance. Additionally, Punch Press Operator monitors work schedule to ascertain production information, such as size, type, and quantity to be processed. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Punch Press Operator works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline.     Job Summary

    Operation of mechanical power presses or by other means necessary to produce metal stamped or formed components in a safe and quality-oriented manner.

    Job Responsibilities

    • Manually handles raw material by adding and removing machine products to and from presses.
    • Operates machine to crimp, punch, and cut metal foil used in metal fabrication and formation.
    • Will acquire the skill and tasking of changing machine dies.
    • Responsible for maintaining International Standards Organization 9000 standards to maintain quality products for our customers.
    • Complete and maintain daily output records.
    • Constant observation and monitoring of machines and products are required to provide quality products ensuring conformance of customer requirements.
    • Hand tools used include pliers, screwdriver, assorted hammers, mallet, vise, torque wrench, assorted wrenches, rachet, caliper, threat gauges, tweezer, vice grip, dial gauge, and variety of wrenches or hand tools.
    • Protecting themselves and their co-workers by adhering to all company safety & health policies.
    • Participating in safety program activities.
    • Identifying hazards in the workplace and reporting them to their supervisors
    • Must work with the EHS department to ensure all local, state and federal regulatory agencies requirements are met; OSHA, NFPA, DNR, EPA and Amphenol sustainability practices.
    • Must work with the Quality department to ensure all quality standards are met for AS9100 certification.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Requirements

    Education: High School diploma or equivalent

    Physical: Must be able to lift 0-10lbs. frequently. Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist, reach and reach overhead.

    Shift: Second shift (Monday-Friday, 2:30pm- 11:00pm); train on first shift for up to 6 months

    Knowledge:

    • Mechanical - Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
    • Production and Processing - Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
