    The Alaska Department of Fish and Game, Division of Wildlife Conservation is recruiting for a Publications Specialist 3 located in Juneau, Anchorage or Fairbanks!

    What you will be doing:
    • Lead, supervise, mentor, and train the Division of Wildlife Conservation Publications Team, which includes three Publications Specialist 2 positions, to ensure the highest quality publication production for members of the public.
    • Review, edit, write, and publish complex scientific technical reports and scientific journal articles on behalf of the Division of Wildlife Conservation.
    • Develop editing, proofreading, and writing workshops to train division staff.

    This position will be located in Juneau, Anchorage, or Fairbanks. Each of these communities have their own appeal; maritime environment and activities in Juneau; population center and adventure jumping off point in Anchorage; and the heart of the Interior in Fairbanks.

    Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

    • Writing: Recognizes or uses correct English grammar, punctuation, and spelling; communicates information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner; produces written information, which may include technical material, that is appropriate for the intended audience.
     
    Equivalent to those typically gained by:
    Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible experience in writing, editing, design and layout, of written materials, such as, publications, articles, brochures, newsletters, or other printed materials and/or internet documents. 
       
    Special Note:
    “Competencies” means a combination of interrelated knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors that enable a person to act effectively in a job or situation.
      
     “Typically gained by” means the prevalent, usual method of gaining the competencies expected for entry into the job.
      
     “Training” and “education” in this guidance are synonyms for the process of acquiring knowledge and skills through instruction. It includes instruction through formal and informal methods (such as classroom, on-line, self-study, and on-the-job), from accredited and unaccredited sources, and long-duration (such as a post-secondary degree) and short-duration (such as a seminar) programs.
