To assist in the operation of the school transportation program and to ensure the safe and efficient transport of pupils to curricular and extracurricular activities.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Valid Commercial Driver's License
- Excellent driving record
- Minimum school transportation experience as determined by the board
- Knowledge of state laws and regulations governing school bus vehicle and maintenance, and pupil transportation
- Demonstrated skills in personnel management, route scheduling, fleet maintenance and cost containment, computer skills essential.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with development and administration of the transportation program to meet the safety and transportation needs of all students.
- Prepares annual State reports.
- Prepares and evaluates regular and special education routes for safety and efficiency.
- Assigns new students, bus stops, route changes, and maintains computer records for routes and mileage.
- Rides routes regularly to verify changes, times or driver problems.
- Assists with the P.M. dispatcher.
- Acts as a resource person for the Director of Transportation with regard to general inquiries from employees and the public.
- Handles inquires from the Superintendent, Directors, Administration, staff and public in a courteous, timely and professional manner.
