ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION
Title of Position: PRINCIPAL BOOKKEEPER – TRANSPORTATION
Work Year: 12 Months
Effective Date
of Employment: Immediately
Salary: In accordance with the Clerical Salary Scale.
Organizational Relationship
or Line of Authority: Directly responsible to the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations and/or the Transportation Coordinator and/or his/her designee.
Statement of Duties:
- Assists in the bi-weekly payroll in support of the Payroll Specialist and as a backup to accounts payable and accounts receivable as needed.
- Provides administrative support in order to ensure effective and efficient business office operations by maintaining a filing system for all financial documents and ensuring the confidentiality and security of all financial files.
- Assume shared responsibility for the clerical functions in the Business office.
- Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, retrieves messages and routes calls to the appropriate office staff.
- Assists in preparing all district, state, and federal reports as needed.
- Displays ethical and professional behavior in communicating and working with staff.
- Exercises considerable discretion in the protection and release of confidential information and in the interpretation and administration of policies and procedures.
- Inventory departmental supplies and material; with the approval of the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations.
- Assists in maintaining a clean, attractive, orderly, safe, and efficient office environment.
- Displays strong, positive communication and interaction skills when dealing with co-workers, students, administrators, parents/guardians, visitors and/or the community.
- Must attend work regularly and is punctual reporting to work and returning from scheduled breaks.
- Responsible for other general duties as indicated by the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Superintendent of Schools, or his/her designees, and policies of the Haverhill School Committee.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma required. Associate or Bachelor’s degree in financial field preferred.
- Minimum of three years accounting experience in public and/or municipal environment preferred.
- Demonstrated excellent oral, written, and organizational skills.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency.
- Experience with InfiniteVisions preferred.
- Experience with Excel required.
- Must be able to daily plan, prioritize, organize, and accomplish work.
- Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving abilities, and confidentiality.
- Ability to work independently within a fast-paced environment and adhere to mandated deadlines.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations and the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
