GENERAL PURPOSE
Responsible for providing support within the student transportation services area with specific responsibilities for the coordination of bus routes and extra trips; maintaining department records in accordance with mandated requirements; and dispatching department personnel.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Collaborate with other District personnel in order to determine driver and equipment requirements for route changes and special trips.
- Compile a variety of data developing formal reports, conveying information, and complying with mandated requirements.
- Inform school personnel and parents of practices providing information for their follow-up action.
- Participate in unit meetings, in-service training, and workshops as required to convey and/or gather information required to perform job functions.
- Process a variety of materials to update and distribute information, authorize action, and/or comply with mandated requirements.
- Recommend policies, procedures and/or actions by providing information for decision-making impacting student transportation services.
- Respond to inquiries from students, parents, and/or staff providing information regarding transportation services.
- Schedule work assignments of substitute school bus drivers to ensure completion of transportation routes in a timely manner.
- Perform the duties of a school bus driver as may be required.
- Perform other related duties as required/assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
- An Associate’s Degree or equivalent preferred.
- Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility required.
Certificates, Licenses and Other Special Requirements
- Class “B” CDL with passenger, air brake, and school bus endorsements.
- Pre-Placement Physical Capacities Test
- Random Drug and Alcohol Testing
- Must pass a Criminal Background Check

- Knowledge of basic math, including calculations using fractions, percentages, and/or ratios, read a variety of manuals, write documents following prescribed formats, and/or present information to others; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions.
- Knowledge to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include pertinent department policies and procedures; office practices and procedures; and concepts of grammar and punctuation.
- Skill to perform single, technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions.
- Skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job, including: operating two way radio; operating standard office equipment including utilizing pertinent office and student transportation software applications; performing standard clerical procedures; and preparing and maintaining accurate records..

- Ability to work with others under a wide variety of circumstances; working with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using defined methods.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
- Work environment is indoors and outdoors with regular exposure to weather conditions; in proximity to the roadway; near moving mechanical parts and traffic; and in confined spaces.
- The work is very heavy work that requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must possess the physical ability to perform the following: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity.
- Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, feeling, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
