Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Rockledge High School in Rockledge is actively seeking an experienced maritime professional who is interested in becoming their High School Maritime Teacher in their Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. This is a 10-month full-time position when school is in session.
Brevard Public Schools' CTE programs get students going in the right direction. CTE classes provide students relevant experience with the latest technology from professionals in the field. They gain knowledge, experience, and confidence as they explore careers from the inside out.

In November, Brevard County voters showed their support for Brevard Public Schools by approving a millage increase with the revenue being used to increase employee compensation, student programs, and technology. The millage will last for four years unless extended by voters, with 80% set aside for employee compensation (based on years of service), 16% set aside for student programs, and 4% set aside for technology.
