Public School Teacher prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic needs of children in a K-12 classroom setting. Being a Public School Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Public School Teacher participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require specific state-level teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Public School Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Summary of Position
Ojai Valley School is currently seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time high school Math Teacher, under the supervision of the Head of School, Upper Campus, for the 2024-2025 academic year. Specifically, we are looking for a Science background and an ability to teach in one or all of the following areas: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Science, and Environmental Science at the general and Advanced Placement levels and/or we are looking for a Mathematics background and an ability to teach in one or all of the following areas: Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Statistics, Advanced Placement Statistics, Pre-Calculus and Advanced Placement Calculus. The ideal candidate has a degree in science or mathematics, or another related field, and has experience as a high school classroom teacher delivering a math curriculum. The candidate should also have experience developing and documenting new curriculum.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Fifth year college or university program certificate preferable; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common trade and technical journals. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from parents, regulatory agencies, or members of the community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to management, and parents.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
California driver's license preferred.
Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
California Teaching Credential preferred.
