The Saddleback Showroom and Public Relations Specialist(SPRS) is responsible for sharing the Saddleback Leather message to our guests in our showroom and to the world. This dual role will operate out of our showroom and be available to assist customers that come in to shop and visit. This Showroom role requires a unique combination of being able to close sales as well as cultivate long-term relationships with Saddleback customers.
The Public Relations responsibilities include creating and publishing Saddleback Leather Company news and information to influencers, bloggers and relevant news outlets in coordination with the Marketing Team. This position is also responsible for keeping up with all current brand tools for public relations and content marketing.
The SPRS accomplishes this through direction from the Marketing Manager and by coordinating with the Marketing Team members and other relevant Saddleback departments. The SPRS needs excellent writing skills, relationship skills, innovation, resourceful initiative, a positive attitude, strong follow-through, and the overwhelming desire to learn. Key relationship building, solving problems swiftly and effectively, and asking questions are other ways the SPRS ensures a solid relationship is formed with the Saddleback team and our customers.
Essential Skills and Duties:
Public Relations:
- Develop newsworthy stories and ideas to promote Saddleback’s products and activities.
- Develop and distribute publicity, including press releases and PR kits to support Saddleback events and activities.
- Build relationships to funnel stories and product information to editors, bloggers, and forum managers through newspapers, periodicals, television, radio, internet and other social channels.
- Arrange and manage interviews with media outlets for employees to speak on behalf of Saddleback.
- Support the marketing team’s efforts related to company positioning and branding.
- Any other duties as required.
Showroom:
- Create a one of a kind experience for all customer interactions in person as well as by email.
- Maintain a familiarity with the Saddleback and Love 41 product lines.
- Ensure that the Showroom is regularly “recovered” for merchandising, inventory, and esthetics.
- Perform all admin functions to ensure orders are prepared and processed in the system correctly.
- Any other duties as required.
How we know you are the most qualified person for this position:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, journalism, communications or a related field, or equivalent knowledge
- Public relations experience in the travel or accessories industry is preferred
- Experience in developing web content and the use of other new media such as blogs and podcasts, including link building, contacting bloggers and attaining guest posts
- Experience with organizing and conducting desk-side pitches with editors
Skills and Knowledge
- Outstanding relationship building and customer service skills
- Creative sales and idea skills
- Knowledge of public relations, media relations
- Outstanding written and verbal communications skills with a strong understanding of AP Style Guide of writing. Creative writing skills are a plus

Environmental Conditions
The SPRS position is located in person at the Saddleback Warehouse.
The SPRS has regular contact with influencers, bloggers, reviewers and reporters as well as frequent contact with Saddleback customers and employees inside and outside all departments.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
