Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. SUMMARY
The ideal candidate will apply a background in medical/health care communications to develop and advance Public Relations strategies for priority clinical care and research areas. The position requires independent planning and decision-making skills, respect for confidentiality and effective problem-solving capabilities. This position reports to the Program Director, Public Relations and works with a collaborative, remote-based team of health care PR experts.

Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.

Required: Six years of experience public relations, communications, writing/editing or related field. With preferred degree, four years of required experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience on a one to one basis.
Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
