Public Relations Manager develops and implements policies and procedures for the public relations department. Maintains favorable public image for employer or client by communicating programs, accomplishments, and/or points of view. Being a Public Relations Manager evaluates all forms of communications before release to ensure accuracy and appropriateness of message and authorizes release. Prepares and distributes news releases, fact sheets, scripts, etc. to media outlets. Additionally, Public Relations Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Public Relations Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Public Relations Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary

    UNM-Taos is seeking a talented and experienced Public Relations Specialist to join our dynamic communications and marketing team. As a Public Relations Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in promoting UNM-Taos and its various academic programs, resources, and initiatives to prospective students, the public, and key stakeholders. This position requires exceptional communication skills, a deep understanding of marketing and communication strategies, and a passion for higher education and the Taos region.

    As a successful Public Relations Specialist, you will work closely with the Business Communication and Marketing team to enhance the visibility and of UNM-Taos.  Your efforts will focus on writing and producing public relations collateral, while collaborating with the team to develop integrated marketing and public relations campaigns that align with the overall goals and objectives of the organization.

    This is a hybrid position with work performed on site and remotely.  This is a part-time position with possibility of full time dependent on funding and department need.

    Minimum Qualifications

    High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

    Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience producing branded marketing and communications for a college, university, or other educational institution or enterprise through writing, editing, design and multimedia production.
    • Ability to work effectively in a diverse community that values the equity and belonging of all faculty, staff, students, and community members.
